I draw lines on paper out into space. For me, drawing is not a fixed image but a substance with definite mass that continues to be generated.
A transparent vessel assembled from lines cut out of acrylic board and the traces of their absence. Originally one, these are not merely a relationship of 'inside and outside.' Their boundary is not a frame that holds the lines, but the very space that emerges through the absence of line.
When light pours in, the structure transforms once again. Deviating from substance, the distorted and overlapping shadows reveal the condition that form can never be fixed: the difference between substance and phenomenon. This work, continually redrawn with the shifting of light, has no finished form. The transparent structure dissolves boundaries, and the shadows encroach upon the entire space. I am dealing with a fluid 'state of line' that repeats generation and dissolution within time.
