'Nekis' is a fiction in which the 'Winged Victory of Samothrace (Nike)' is treated as a single 'species,' like amphibians or birds, named the 'Nike-class,' and collected as specimens.
I go out into the field to photograph, as if bird-watching.
I turn the collected specimens into preserved samples and build a collection.
The accompanying landscape photographs serve as captions indicating where each specimen was found, or as backgrounds for photographs that (appear to) record its behavior.
These specimens are objects for appreciating the fictional creatures of the 'Nike-class' and, at the same time, allow one to observe what kind of material layers a collage is.
What is supported by those thin pins is merely a thin scrap of paper that seems about to fly away, and the shadow it casts is likewise opaque and flat.
Coming from different times and different places, they overlap in the single site of one panel.
*The Winged Victory of Samothrace: an ancient Greek sculpture depicting Nike, the goddess of victory (collection of the Louvre).
