About the artist
無垢さと物語り性と無自覚さ
作品を制作するときにこの3つの要素のバランスを考えながら作業をしています。
木彫は実在感が強いので、まるで幼生期がなく成獣のまま生まれ落ちた生き物のように作るたびに感じます。
その状態をそのまま表現したいので、表情をなるべくつけないように掘りすすめ着彩します。
作品の形がそのまま（着ている衣装も含め）物語性を持ちます。現実的な物語りより虚構性の強い物語りを纏わせたい。
実在感が強い形に現実的な物語りを纏わせてしまうと矮小化されたジオラマになってしまいそうで窮屈だからです。
見る人に共感を求めるよりも、異質な虚構性で自由な想像の世界に導きたいと考えます。
但し作品の主体は纏っている物語りに対して無自覚であるように表現することを心がけています。
